Roof Tear-Off and Installation

When building your forever home, give it a roof that will last just as long

Roofing Solutions for Every Season in the Pacific Northwest

We’re used to the weather here in the Pacific Northwest. From sun to rain to freezing temperatures and snow, the weather can come at us in a variety of directions. But we still bundle up and get outside when we can. What can we say? We love the outdoors.

Our roofs, however, bear the brunt of this weather all year round. While no roofing material will stand up to a falling tree, there are several types of roofing options to choose from. Each one has a different lifespan and, of course, a different price tag.

The Tear Off and Roof Installation Process

Before any roofing installation or roof replacement, Mountaintop Metal Roofing will perform an inspection of the existing roof. This will give us a better idea of what we’re working with, what materials we’ll need, and how long the job will take. We’ll also discuss the style and color of aluminum roofing you want.

Tear-Off Process

After any lawn furniture and other items are moved out of harm’s way, we’ll make sure to protect any landscaping around the house. Then the heavy work begins. To tear off the old roof, we’ll remove the layers of shingles and underlayment to reveal the roof deck. If the damage to the home is severe, chances are the decking will be in bad shape as well.

Mountaintop Metal Roofings understand you put a lot of time and effort into make your yard look great. When removing the layers of roofing, we make sure to put the discarded materials in a single location, usually a dumpster. This ensures no loose nails or debris is found in your flowerbeds, shrubs, or yard.

Installations

As with all roofing projects, we’ll check to make sure the trusses of the roof are in good shape before adding the deck. We want to make sure the decking can be securely fastened before moving on to underlayment. Any necessary repairs will be made before we begin the installation process.

After the decking, the underlayment is attached. This is usually tar paper or synthetic material designed to keep any water off the decking. Consider it another protective step for your home. Then the aluminum shake, slate, or standing seam roofing is put in place.

You may be wondering if we install roofs during rainy weather. We certainly avoid it if we can, but this is the Pacific Northwest. We take every possible precaution to protect your home from inclement weather during installation. Mountaintop Metal Roofing schedules our clients in such a way that no installation is spread out too long.

Professional Metal Roof Installation

There are a few reasons metal roofing isn’t used as much as other materials. This includes a lack of roofing contractors that know how to properly install an aluminum roof. So while it might look great, poor installation can lead to water damage throughout the home.

Mountaintop Metal Roofing has been performing aluminum roof installations for more than 20 years. We stay up to date on the latest trends in aluminum roofing and investigate new products. This is how we make sure we use quality products for every client. This includes the decking and underlayment as well.

Advantages of Aluminum Roofing

There are pros and cons to almost every type of roofing including cost, ease of installation, and durability. Traditional asphalt shingles can’t stand up to the elements as well as other materials. Architectural shingles will last longer but cost more. Cedar shakes require a lot of maintenance but can last up to 50 years.

Slate tiles are made to last for up to 75 years but can be broken if mishandled. No material lasts as long as aluminum roofing, and we back it up with a lifetime warranty. Additionally, Permalock aluminum shingles won’t fade like other products, meaning they’ll look great for years to come.
